Description
A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), Seventh Edition and The Standard for Project Management
A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge, published by the Project Management Institute (PMI), appears here as the Seventh Edition combined with The Standard for Project Management in one volume. It moves away from the process-oriented structure of earlier editions toward a value delivery, principle-based approach for people who manage projects.
The two sections work together: the Standard lays out the principles that guide behavior, and the Guide translates them into performance domains covering the work of delivering a project.
Twelve principles
The Standard for Project Management sets out 12 principles, including stewardship, team, stakeholders, and value, that guide effective project management behavior.
Eight performance domains
The PMBOK Guide replaces the Knowledge Areas used in earlier editions with 8 performance domains, such as team, planning, delivery, and uncertainty, organized around outcomes rather than process steps.
Works with any methodology
This edition is written to be agnostic to development approach. It applies equally to predictive (waterfall), agile, and hybrid project management.
